It is pretty obvious that we live in the most beautiful county of the country next to Vatnajökull national park. The beauty of the nature surrounds us and is only step away to enjoy.
Students at the elementary school get to explore the beauty because the school has study and field trips for every class to a different place in the county and the trips become more extensive with age.
I have always like how the elementary school introduces our beautiful nature and landscape to students and intergrades it into their study. Whether it is picking berries, hiking, daytrip to Ingólfshöfði or Lönsöræfi. They will make good memories, it is a good outdoor activity and the children will learn to respect nature and the environment.
One of the main goals in the municipality´s enviromental and climate policy is enviromental education. The ways to that goal is that the children know their enviroment and education about it. And where is a better place for that than in nature ?
In previous terms Framsókn has submitted proposals that were approved and have to do with children´s welfare and best interest. It was increasing funding for leisure grant, free into the swimming pool to age 18 and fruit snacks free of charge at the elementary school.
Now we like to take another step this coming term and work towards that study and field trips will be free of charge. But students pay for food and accomodation in these trips. We know that hobbies are good prevention but also a good walk out in nature with your classmates.
